Grateful Dead and Hells Angels
Partner in huge Charity
By Andien Roney and Mel West
They're back! And this time in full force, promising great business revenue in Southern Marin
SAUSALITO (MPS) April 1 Associates of the Grateful Dead and Hells Angels motor club have partnered with a new film venture studio to be located in Marin County. Present plans involve a 750 acre tract of land near Marin City that will involve film and television studio enterprises, charity offices, and a biker museum.
Ground-breaking will begin April 17, 2007, hosted by Johnathan Logan, Jr., District Manager of Marin City, and City Manager Dana Whitson of Sausalito, as well as city council members and Marin County supervisors.
The 30 billion dollar mixed use project will be introduced through a parade of bikers from Hells Angels chapters around the world. Says famous biker Sonny Barger, "We have hosted bike regattas around the world but this will be the largest ever. We have 20 containers of bikes from our clubs in Germany alone that are coming through the Panama Canal right now, as I speak. They'll be landing in Frisco in two days, where our members will claim their bikes and clear them through customs. The bikes are wild man."
Scott Paulin, Sausalito's Chief of Police, has been working with the California National Guard to help monitor the festivities when the bikes come into town. He says he will be needing about 3,000 troops who can be based at Fort Funston and positioned around Marin City and Sausalito. They will also supply several emergency medical units just back from Iraq, and they will be stationed at the Bay Model. In addition he has arranged with the US Coast Guard to provide its destroyer currently moored in Alameda. He doesn't expect any trouble, however.
First aid stations will be located at Sausalito's city hall. A special medical unit just returned from Iraq will be located on the tennis court. Look for the tent covering the courts. Dunphy Park and the dog playground in Sausalito will be available as a camp ground (No dogs will be allowed during the festivities). The city will be charging $50.00 per night per person for all camping locations. Those who wish to book space in the local hotels should book them before April 2. Most of the rooms are full.
We were not able to get photos of some of the bikes in time for publication of the Marinscope Newspapers. However we did get images of the poster of the Grateful Dead and a fender of a bike from the hells-angels.com website.

Hell-Bent for Charity Board of Director's meeting with director Lynn Bagley, a Biker Chic, discussing the new Hell-Bent for Charity Brooklyn Bridge Relocation Project (delayed since 2003) for Richardson Bay |
The Board of Directors include people who are bikers and own Harley-Davidson bikes. Except for their financial interests in the Hell-Bent for Charity corporation they have no other affiliation with the Grateful Dead or Hells Angels. "This is all being done to establish a perpetual charity and offer employment and homes to the workers in the enterprises serving the charity," said Realtor ____________________. "It will be a fantastic income generator for the desperate coffers of Marin County and its communities. The tax base alone will generate $ 30 million per year for Sausalito and Marin City. The townhouses are expected to sell in the price range of $120,000 for a 1,500 sq. foot 3 bedroom 2 bath Hell-Bent for the Pacifc view unit to $170,000 for the premium 3,000 sq. foot Hell Bent for the Golden Gate unit. Normally these units would sell for $850,000 and $900,00 respectively, but thanks to the charity foundation the difference will be subsidized through the charity write-offs. There will be low-income housing in the development as well, in compliance with Federal and State laws.

Biker Guy
Stanley Eichelbaum. Stanley was famous for his biker beer regattas and became famous as a food critic for Marinscope Newspapers.
|
Biker Bitcher Leon Galleto. Leon began riding Harleys in France and introduced Sausalito's former Mayor Sally Sanford to biking. He founded the Bad Biker Wine label in 1996 that didn't go over too well. He tried to establish the name as a beer, Bad Biker Beer, but lost the name when the Bad Biker Association sued him.
|
Biker Guy Butler. Though an avid Harley fan he would not speak at the Board of Director's meeting.
|
Biker Chic Joyce Brown addresses the Board of Director's Meeting. She became an avid Harley fan and enjoys joyful regattas through Marin Woods when not running her spa empire.
|
Biker Guy Tom Luther. Tom became an avid Harley fan when he met Galleto at a wine tasting event at the Valhalla restaurant in Sausalito, when Galleto was the Maitre-D for Sally Sanford. Tom, a realtor in San Rafael, is the head of the 4000 unit townhouse project.

Saturday, April 27, the bikers will launch a 10,000 bike regatta from Stinson Beach to Sausalito's Bay Model complex where the world famous Sausalito Art Festival is held. The plan includes a two-day fair celebrating the 64th anniversary of the founding of the Hells Angels by IRL Baldwin. Marin restaurants particularly the fast food concerns are excited about the fair, since many of them will have booths in the temporary tent city to be erected in the Bay Model area. For tattoo buffs there will be 20 tents of tattooers who will no doubt be flooded with customers.
Many tents will be selling biker collectibles and several bike dealers will be competing for the business of custom designed bikes as well as new Hogs. On the way to the fair the parade of 10,000 bikers will pass through Muir Woods and Tam Junction. Miller Avenue will be blocked off at Tam Junction for the hour it will take for the parade at the junction. Some bikes will be stopping for fuel and refreshments at the Arco station there. Since Camping will be allowed at the fair grounds, fast food will be in high demand. Barger says that the parade will be greater than the Mardi Gras parade in São Paulo, Brazil.
Shuttle buses will be operating. Bike parking will be in the same areas used by the Art Festival. Parking rates will be $5.00 per bike. No bikes will be allowed south of Johnson street. Bikers organizing the event include director Peg Copple, Leon Galleto of Galleto and Associates, etc. (April Fools)
